West Norwood 4 Palestine
West Norwood 4 Palestine's 2nd Free Film Festival kicks off 24th October 2025, with 5 nights, across 5 weeks, for Palestine.
The festival’s primary aim is to engage the local community with the historic and ongoing struggle of the Palestinian people, particularly in light of the continuing genocide, as well as the struggles faced by the oppressed worldwide. Through this series of films, we hope to deepen people’s understanding of the scale and severity of the situation and raise awareness throughout West Norwood and beyond.

PORTICO FILM CLUB
27.11.25 - 19:00 - FREE ENTRY
Portico Film Club Presents: KOYAANISQATSI
Portico Film Club invites you to a unique evening of film, sound, and atmosphere with a screening of Koyaanisqatsi — Godfrey Reggio’s visionary 1982 masterpiece shown in its original form, accompanied by live performances and curated short films.
Koyaanisqatsi (Hopi for “life out of balance”) is a hypnotic meditation on the collision between nature, technology, and modern life. With no dialogue or conventional plot, the film’s power lies in its stunning visuals and Philip Glass’s iconic score — presented here as originally intended, uninterrupted and immersive.
Before and after the main screening, we’re thrilled to host live sets from Alex Paterson (Orb) — ambient pioneer and co-founder of The Orb — and Brixton-based collective Youthsayers, known for their genre-blending fusion of jazz, dub, and Afrobeat. Their performances will frame a selection of short films that echo the themes of Koyaanisqatsi, creating a rich audiovisual journey across time, rhythm, and perspective.
Expect a night of cinematic depth, sonic exploration, and community energy in the heart of West Norwood.
Free Entry — donations to Youthsayers welcome and appreciated.
Drinks available. All ages welcome.
